Director of Engineering

Pathcore is a remote-first biotech company specializing in whole slide digital pathology image management and workflow. We develop advanced enterprise software used throughout the medical market to manage pathology data and support cancer information. We are passionate about developing software that makes a difference.

Our Engineering team is growing. It currently consists of a software development team, operations team, and product designers. To help grow these teams, and manage the department as a whole, we're looking for a Director of Engineering. You will be at the forefront of team innovation, sustainability, and compliance.

Responsibilities - What you'll do day to day

  • Lead the engineering team, ensuring they have the resources needed to be successful
  • Provide mentorship, performance management, and development opportunities to the team
  • Manage projects include setting scope, budgets, timelines, resource management and fulfillment.
  • Develop and implement the SOP for our software development team, including QA practices, documentation requirements, and release procedures
  • Work with Executive Leadership to make decisions for operational activities and accomplish our strategic plan and goals for the business.
  • Provide direction regarding customer support programs (Service level agreement, technical pre-sales)
  • Consult with clients – build relationships, discuss requirements, lend expertise
  • Cultivate procedures that work across our production and non-production systems
  • Develop architectural road maps for our product development, with a lens of sustainability
  • Plan in the big picture, looking ahead at the 2 year road map, while maintaining daily support
  • Lead implementation and adherence to various compliance programs (ISO 27001, ISO 13485, GDPR, etc)
  • Act intentionally to not just oversee the department, but to grow it in a sustainable way
  • Promote our core value of Quality First.

Qualifications - Who you are day to day / What you need to get the job

  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with a variety of people
  • An understanding of the difference between leadership and management
  • 3+ years in a Senior Management capacity
  • Strong software development background, including hands-on experience with cloud technologies and modern interfaces
  • Project management experience, specifically in Agile methodologies
  • Experience developing and implementing compliance programs
